Amber Zest does exactly what its name promises: it opens on citrus zest and it ends on amber.

— The opening is a citrus trio — lemon, bergamot, mandarin. It is crisp, sparkling, and gives the impression of a fresh fragrance. That impression does not last, and that is deliberate.

— The heart tips over into spices: pepper, saffron and geranium. Saffron is the signature spice of Gulf perfumery; it brings a leathery, slightly honeyed facet that nothing else can do. That is where the fragrance turns oriental.

— The base is ambery and dry: amber, patchouli, cedar. Warm, enveloping, with staying power.

A true unisex, one of the few in the range — the citrus opening makes it approachable, the saffron and amber make it grown-up. It suits late afternoon through the evening, and it is at its best in autumn and winter. Two to three sprays; it is not aggressive.

— The opening is unexpected: a juicy watermelon, with lavender and bergamot to hold it up. The watermelon is its signature; you will not mistake it for anything else.

— The heart moves onto lotus and jasmine. Clean, lightly aquatic, without ever falling into soap.

— The base is soft and discreet: musk, sandalwood and amber. It stays close to the skin.

A daytime fragrance, for spring and summer, made to be worn at the office or on a terrace without bothering anyone. One honest point: Ajmal themselves state five hours maximum and a moderate sillage. This is not an evening fragrance, and you should plan to reapply in the afternoon. In exchange, it is fresh where many oriental fragrances are overwhelming.

Viola is the most structured feminine of the Ajmal range: it starts fruity and ends woody, which is rare in this category.
