Gold Edition is the best seller of the whole Amber Oud range worldwide, and it is also the most surprising: you expect a heavy oriental, you get a fruity.
— The opening is sober: bergamot and green notes. Very short, it is only a doorway.
— The heart is the signature, and it is unexpected: watermelon and pineapple, with sweet accords and already some amber. This fruity pairing is what made the fragrance a success — it is immediately recognisable and it resembles nothing else in the range.
— The base brings the fragrance back towards the oriental: woody notes, vanilla and musk. That is where it turns warm, and that is what remains after two hours.

Carbon Edition is the fresh one of the Amber Oud range — the only one that opens on the aromatic rather than on spice.
— The opening is herbal and clean: bergamot, lavender and rosemary. It is the opening of a Provençal fragrance, clean and slightly camphorous, which cuts completely against the rest of the range.
— The heart is marine: marine notes, sage and geranium. The marine notes give that sensation of salt air, the sage keeps the dry-herb side.
— The base is where it becomes an Amber Oud again: amber, cedar, vetiver and moss. Vetiver is a root, dry and smoky, and it is what gives the fragrance its staying power and its grown-up character.
A spring and summer fragrance, for daytime, and the easiest of the whole range to wear at the office. Two to three sprays; it is not aggressive.

Amber Oud Rouge is the most sober and the most carefully built of the range: three movements, no frills.
— The opening is dominated by saffron, the signature spice of Gulf perfumery. Saffron is not hot, it is leathery and lightly honeyed, and it gives the fragrance its character from the first second. A few floral notes soften it.
— The heart is the centre of gravity: ambery woods and ambergris. Ambergris is one of the most precious materials in perfumery — warm, salty, enveloping — and it is what creates that impression of warm skin you notice on the great orientals.
— The base is dry and resinous: fir resin and cedar. The fir resin brings a balsamic freshness that keeps the whole thing from turning heavy.
An autumn and winter fragrance, for the evening, and genuinely unisex — saffron and amber lean neither way. Large 120 ml bottle: at that volume, this is a fragrance you keep for two years. Two sprays, no more; it has presence.
