Détour Rouge is the most approachable version of the Détour line — the same spirit as the Noir Intense, lighter and brighter.
— The opening sparkles: bergamot and pink pepper, with cardamom and heliotrope. Pink pepper is not a hot pepper, it is a fruity berry that gives relief without attacking.
— The heart pairs almond and lavender with a jasmine-geranium duo. It is this almond-lavender accord that gives the Détours their identity, and here it is softer than in the Noir Intense.
— The base is warm and simple: vanilla, amber, sandalwood and guaiac wood. Less deep than its big brother, but easier to wear during the day.
An everyday fragrance, unisex, which carries from spring through autumn. It is also the least expensive reference in the Al Haramain selection — a good bottle for introducing someone to the brand, or for a first purchase.

Détour Noir Intense is the best value for money in the whole Al Haramain selection: a gourmand woody built like a far more expensive fragrance.
— The opening is spiced and powdery: cardamom, pink pepper and heliotrope. Heliotrope is a flower that smells of almond and vanilla — it sets the gourmand tone straight away.
— The heart plays on contrast: bitter almond and lavender on one side, geranium and jasmine on the other. Almond and lavender together is the accord that signs the great modern masculines.
— The base is rich and deep: vanilla, guaiac wood, oud, sandalwood and amber. Guaiac wood is a smoky, balsamic wood used widely in oriental perfumery, and the oud gives it that resinous depth which makes all the difference.
An evening fragrance, for autumn and winter, perfectly unisex. Staying power is excellent and the sillage is generous — two sprays are plenty, three is already too much.

Royal Musk is the richer of the two musks in the selection — where Musk Maliki is discreet, this one has character.
— The opening is short and fresh: citrus and green notes. Its main job is to avoid opening straight onto the heart, which is very present.
— The heart is unusual and that is the whole point: honey, jasmine and saffron. Honey is a difficult note to get right — badly measured it turns cloying — and here it is held by the saffron, which brings it a leathery, dry side. This honey-saffron contrast is the fragrance's real signature.
— The base is velvety: musk, sandalwood and amber. Warm, creamy, it stays a long time.
A late-day and evening fragrance, for autumn and winter. Unisex, but more assertive than Musk Maliki — for someone happy to smell of something. Two sprays; the honey rises fast.
