Royal Blend Sequoia is the woody counterpart to Royal Blend Nero: the same aged-wood and candied-fruit spirit, but on red fruit instead of coffee.
— The opening is short and marked: raspberry, in a candied, syrupy version. It is the accord that signs the whole Royal Blend line — cooked fruit, not fresh fruit.
— The heart is sober: rose and moss. The rose brings just enough floral, and the moss already sets in the earthy greenness of the base.
— The base is the reason the fragrance exists: oak, praline and sandalwood. The oak brings that smell of aged wood and dry shavings. With the praline, it creates a roundness that is sweet and woody at once.

— The opening is warm and aromatic: cinnamon and cardamom, lit up by bergamot and orange blossom. The two spices set the oriental tone immediately, and the two bright notes keep them from being stifling.
— The heart is short but precious: Bourbon vanilla and elemi. Bourbon vanilla is the roundest and creamiest; elemi is a peppery, lemony resin that lifts it. This duo is what gives the fragrance its texture.
— The base is dry and mineral: praline, ambroxan and guaiac wood. The ambroxan gives that warm-skin impression and carries the fragrance a long way; the guaiac dries the praline out so that it does not cloy.

Essence de Blanc is the only truly fresh fragrance of the house, and it comes just at the right moment: everything else in the French Avenue catalogue is gourmand or woody.
— The opening is crisp and green: citrus, bergamot and petitgrain. Petitgrain is the leaf of the orange tree — bitter, green, it gives a freshness far less sweet than a plain citrus.
— The heart is lively and spiced: mint, ginger and spices. The mint gives a real sensation of cold for a few minutes, then the ginger takes over and warms things up — a well thought out sequence.
— The base is marine and warm at once: floral notes, marine notes and ambergris. The ambergris is what keeps the marine from being cold and gives the fragrance its staying power.
