Areej — the word means “fragrance” or “aroma” in Arabic — is the softest and most powdery of the Luxus line.
— The opening is green and fresh: mandarin, bergamot and above all violet leaves. Violet leaves do not smell of the flower: they smell of cut greenery, of crushed grass. It is a crisp, slightly vegetal start that surprises you pleasantly.
— The heart finally reveals the flower: violet, orange blossom and cashmere wood. Violet is the most powdery note in perfumery, and the cashmeran gives it that touch of warm wool that keeps it from being cold.
— The base is warm-hearted and creamy: patchouli, amber and Tahitian vanilla. Tahitian vanilla is more floral and more aniseed than Bourbon vanilla — a quality choice, and it goes perfectly with the violet.
A daytime fragrance that carries very well into the evening, good all year. Unisex, with a softness that leans slightly feminine. Orange and gold gift box. Two to three sprays.

— The opening is unusual for a fragrance at this price: incense from the very first second, lifted by pink pepper and softened by bergamot. Starting with incense rather than a citrus is a deliberate stance — it announces a serious fragrance immediately.
— The heart is rich and powdery: iris, oud, sandalwood and patchouli. Iris is the most expensive material in the composition — it is what gives that velvety touch which keeps the oud from being brutal. This iris-oud marriage is rare and very well done.
— The base is warm and dry: amber, vanilla, cedar and vetiver. The vetiver dries the vanilla out and gives the ending a grown-up bearing.
An evening fragrance, for autumn and winter, genuinely unisex. Burgundy bottle with silver finishes. Two sprays.

Jarrah is the most carefully built of the Luxus line: a dazzling citrus that ends in resins and leather.
— The opening is a citrus quartet: orange, bergamot, lemon and mandarin. It is generous, crisp, and it lasts longer than most fresh openings.
— The heart is the most interesting passage: pineapple, cistus, labdanum, jasmine and leather. Pineapple over leather is a combination that made the reputation of certain great masculine fragrances — juicy fruit against dry material. Cistus and labdanum are two ambery resins that give depth.
— The base is warm and caramelised: oakmoss, benzoin and amber, over a note of brown sugar. The oakmoss brings the green, earthy foundation of the chypre family, and the benzoin a balsamic roundness.
A fragrance for day as well as evening, at its best in mid-season and autumn. Unisex with a masculine leaning. Red and gold packaging, metal plaque on the bottle. Two to three sprays.
