Khair Pistachio is Paris Corner's centrepiece, and it is a complete dessert.

— The opening is gourmand from the start: pistachio and ice cream, with hazelnut and a little cardamom. The pistachio is the note that carries everything — creamy, lightly salted, green — and it is exactly the one that has become unavoidable since the craze for Dubai chocolate.

— The heart brings the fruit and the flower: pear, white peach, raspberry, jasmine and peony. That fruity layer keeps the pistachio from becoming heavy and gives the fragrance its freshness.

— The base is unapologetic confectionery: marshmallow, candy floss, whipped cream and tonka bean, laid over a cedar that dries the whole thing out. Without that cedar it would cloy; with it, it holds.

An autumn and winter fragrance, for day as well as evening, and frankly unisex. To be honest: it is very gourmand and very sweet — anyone looking for something fresh or sober will find nothing here. But for those who like this register, it is one of the best value-for-money options on the market. Two sprays are plenty.

Khair Peach Delulu is the most summery of the Khair line, and the only one to play the fresh-spice card.

— The opening is generous and juicy: peach, nectarine and guava. Guava is rare in perfumery — tropical, lightly tart, a little green — and it is what keeps the peach from being ordinary.

— The heart warms things up without weighing them down: cardamom, ginger and rose. The ginger carries the freshness of the fruit on by giving it bite, and it is a clever choice: most peaches in perfumery turn to sugar, this one turns to spice.

— The base is short and crisp: caramel, musk and dry woods. Just enough to round things off and make them last, without turning the fragrance into a dessert.

A spring and summer fragrance, for daytime, bright and easy to wear. Unisex. Two to three sprays.

Taskeen — “the soothing” — is a warm fruity that ends in resinous amber.

— The opening is sunlit: blood orange, peach and cardamom. Blood orange is deeper and sweeter than a classic orange, and the cardamom gives it an oriental turn immediately.

— The heart is the most interesting part: cognac, davana, heliotrope and jasmine. Cognac in perfumery is a boozy, woody note that warms without sweetening. Davana is an Indian plant with a fruity, lightly candied scent that changes with the skin — a material perfumers love for exactly that. Together they give that warm, caramelised side.

— The base is dense and resinous: tonka bean, benzoin, labdanum, cashmeran, patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla. Benzoin and labdanum are two balsamic resins that ensure very long wear.

An autumn and winter fragrance, for late day and evening. Unisex. The davana gives it a rare particularity: it does not smell quite the same on two different people. Two sprays.
