Grandeur is Zimaya's signature fragrance, and its idea is simple and well executed: a salted vanilla.

— The opening pairs vanilla, rose and salt. Salt in perfumery is not table salt — it is a mineral accord that gives the impression of skin after the beach. Laid over vanilla, it keeps the sugar from taking over.

— The heart carries the idea on: amber, rose and ozonic notes. Ozonic notes are the smell of the air before a storm, clean and a little electric. That is what gives the fragrance its airy side.

— The base, on the other hand, is frankly gourmand: vanilla, praline and patchouli. Praline is caramelised almond. The contrast with the salt of the opening is the whole interest of the fragrance.

A mid-season fragrance, for day as well as evening, unisex. Two to three sprays.

— The opening is lively and sharp: blood orange, black pepper and a spice accord. Blood orange is deeper and more bitter than sweet orange — it stands up to the pepper instead of being crushed by it.

— The heart is aromatic and clean: lavender and orange blossom. It is the signature of classic masculine fragrances, and it is what makes this one wearable at the office.

— The base is broad and comfortable: woody accords, moss, white sandalwood, tonka bean and amber. The moss gives the woodland smell, the white sandalwood the creamy softness, the tonka the almond.

A mid-season and autumn fragrance, for daytime, unisex with a masculine leaning. With Phantom Paragon it forms the house's Paragon line — but the two are very different: this one is dry and spiced, the other soft and almondy. Three sprays.

— The opening is the classic Gulf couple: rose and saffron. The saffron brings a leathery, lightly metallic side that keeps the rose from being well behaved.

— The heart is agarwood — the oud — supported by the rose. It is a wrapped oud, not a raw one: the rose stays present all the way through.

— The base is gourmand: amber, praline and vanilla. It is what does all the work of making it approachable — a customer who is afraid of oud will find it very soft here.
