Taif rose grows in Saudi Arabia, in the mountains above Mecca, and it is the most expensive in the world — it takes tens of thousands of flowers for a few grams of essence. It is spicier and more honeyed than Bulgarian rose. Moroccan rose, for its part, is fresher and greener. The two together give a complete rose, from the bud to the open flower.
— The base is warm and enveloping: vanilla, benzoin, cedar and white musks. Benzoin is a resin from Laos that smells of caramel and warm wood.

— The opening is green and milky: fig, coconut and bergamot. Fig in perfumery is as much the leaf as the fruit: green, milky, a little bitter. With the coconut, the effect is creamy without being sweet.
— The heart is salty: sea breeze, cardamom and cistus. Cistus is labdanum in its raw state — a Mediterranean resin that smells of vegetal leather and of sun-heated scrubland. It is what gives the fragrance its mineral roughness.
